Recognized or Not, Online Learning In fact Creates Many Problems in Indonesia
GAMEPEDIA - Parents' voices of anxiety and anxiety in the midst of implementing distance learning policies are increasingly louder. In the past week, precisely when the new school year began again, the voices were clearly visible. Not only heard in the rooms of the house, the overflow of unrest was also seen on the walls of social media.
The task of the teacher repeatedly, quota quickly sold out, cellphones and laptops are limited, monotonous teaching, difficult to access links, difficult signals, and tired in front of the screen are among a series of serious problems now faced by parents.
The inconvenience is increased because they are also required to arouse enthusiasm and regulate children's learning rhythms as best they can even if not in the classroom.
At a time when parents have started doing a lot of activities outside the home again along with the easing of Large Scale Social Restrictions (LSSR - PSBB), distance learning (online learning - PJJ) or online is a new inconvenience that cannot be ruled out. Parents and their children seemed to want to rebel against the policy. However, alas, there is no power to deal with it.
Admittedly or not, online learning in fact raises many problems and in an emergency. Ironically, until now there has not been an integrated policy governing the issue of distance education. This makes PJJ's model diverse and irregular.
In the midst of this condition, the essence is not only parents who are victims. Children who are supposed to gain knowledge in a fun way every day seem to be faced with confusing learning.
The data of 32% of students who do not have access to study at home when LSSR as the result of Wahana Visi Indonesia's research strengthens the portrait of education when the pandemic becomes more sad. Instead of getting quality education, online learning seems to be merely a regulation of formality.
Wahana Visi Indonesia's data which states that there are 11% of children experiencing physical unrest during online learning also deserves attention. The data should be a valuable evaluation material that online education should not be limited to the process of transferring knowledge, but also the need to consider the health of students.
The complexity of educational problems in this pandemic era needs to immediately find a solution. The government through the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) and the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) need to work quickly to formulate learning models that are adaptive to the conditions of Covid-19.
This model may not be ideal, but it will at least be a new guide for teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders to create learning that is fun for everyone.
A special pandemic curriculum as planned by the government also needs to be realized immediately. The bitter experiences experienced by parents and students at the beginning of the new academic year should not be protracted.
Indeed, the statement of the Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim three weeks ago that parental participation was very important in the success of this PJJ. However, the problem is not that simple. In fact, not all parents have the opportunity and ability to assist their children directly during PJJ.
For this reason, attractive and enjoyable PJJ patterns are a must. If indeed parents no longer have the slack of time as in the early days of the pandemic, at least the children can still be independent. PJJ is also essentially expensive education. Nothing wrong, access to cheap quota specifically for education needs to be further facilitated.
